Negative Interpretations Of Positive Tarot Cards

There are some decidedly positive Tarot cards but how do you interpret them if they are in negative positions (meaning, they come up as an obstacle or crossing card)? Note that this does not include reversed cards - I'm talking about the card's full, positive potential as an obstacle. When a card is reversed its energy is weakened or distorted.

Here are general interpretations of some positive cards in negative positions:

The Empress: overabundance, domineering mother, dependant on mother, unwanted pregnancy

The Star: hoping for the wrong thing, looking to the future and ignoring the present or not wanting to consider the future

The Sun: shiny/happy facade

The World: not looking forward to the next chapter

10 of Pentacles: family props you up when you should be independent, family tradition/reliable situation keeps you stuck, trapped by wealth

3 of Cups: partying as an escape, drinking too much, not wanting to socialize

6 of Cups: stuck in the past, unwelcome reminder/message from the past (even if it's a gift or loving message)

10 of Cups: happy family facade, putting the dream of the perfect situation above all else, not looking forward to the family gathering

4 of Wands: stagnating (even if the situation is comfortable), troublesome celebration (tense dynamics), excessive focus on home

6 of Wands: a win that blinds you to other issues, focusing only on the victory, feeling like you don't deserve this win

Aces: any Ace as a crossing or blocking card asks you to think twice before you start something. This will begin, but moving forward may not be good for you or you're unprepared. Maybe something is starting and you don't want it to.

In the above situations, you're encouraged to consider if the positive is really so great. Or, if you're avoiding something by plastering over it with "positive" energy.
