The 2nd House
The 2nd is a highly subjective house that's about what you own and earn. It's the material goods house, the income house and the house of survival. It also covers self-esteem and values - the core factors that make up your ability to survive.
Planets in this house will express themselves as follows. The sign in the 2nd will modify this.
the material world: money and what's owned BUT the quality of the planet(s) will influence abundance or lack.
self-esteem: again, the quality of the planets make the difference.
possessions: your "stuff" is very important and there can be a tendency to express "ownership" of people. This is a basic survival urge.
habitual patterns: what's always worked will be the safe bet until a major event forces change.
A 2nd House stellium (3 or more planets) gives a stubborn (or fearful), security-loving, survival-driven outlook. Depending on the planets, you can be a lover of luxury, driven to earn, afraid of change, practical, greedy, possessive or nurturing. Self-esteem can be rock solid or shaky. Self-sufficiency can be fierce or totally lacking. The attitude to money will correlate to self-esteem/independence: low self-esteem and an inability to take care of yourself will align with an unhealthy approach to money (money is not valued, the self is not valued). Sharing can be difficult and there can be anxiety about not having enough of certain things (not enough to go around).
Jupiter and Venus in this house increase the love of lux and the ability to earn more/spend more. If Neptune is added it can be really difficult to hold onto what's earned (and values can be undermined). But generosity can increase along with the ability to earn through creative or spiritual paths. Saturn restricts and can mean deprivation/stinginess but can also increase discipline (working hard for the money). Mars can mean you fight for what you own, pursue what you want and defend your turf.
Undesirable energies in the 2nd can always be worked on (just like anything in the chart). Low self-esteem and carelessness with money can be amended with hard work and awareness. Difficult energies in this house will impact your paycheque and self-sufficiency but you're not "fated" to struggle because of this. The key is recognizing that anything in this house does not love change - take a look at ingrained habits involving how you earn, what you earn and what you think you deserve. Look at how you can change what's problematic. Note the resistance - that's where you need to zero in and make the change.
Harmonious aspects (trines, sextiles) from other planets in the chart will support and enhance 2nd House planets. Hard aspects (square, opposition, quincunx) will block or challenge 2nd House planets. The result (of the support or block) will increase or decrease the ability to earn money, look after yourself and develop a core set of values.
