Applying My Horoscopes to Your Chart
"The houses or sectors in your weekly horoscopes are different from my personal chart ( rising sign) chart. It seems confusing to me. Do you have any suggestions on how to best utilize these differences."
When I write my weekly horoscopes, I put the sign in question on the Ascendant and use Whole Sign Houses. This is called a Sunrise chart and is a technique used when the astrologer does not know the time of birth. So for the Gemini horoscope, Gemini is the Rising Sign and all the houses are divided equally - 2nd House is Cancer, 3rd House is Leo, 4th is Virgo, etc.
This will not line up with everyone's houses if they don't use Whole Signs. For example, if you have Gemini Rising, your 2nd House might also have its cusp in Gemini, depending on what time you were born and what house system you use.
If you know your Rising Sign and house positions, I would still work with the interpretation in the horoscopes, even if the transit described falls in a different house, keeping in mind that Sun sign horoscopes are general interpretations only. If you want to get really detailed, you can see which house the transit actually activates in your chart and then try using that interpretation in the horoscope (even if it's the next sign over). For example, if you have Taurus Rising and I'm writing about Venus moving into your domestic sector(4th House) but in your chart transiting Venus is actually in your sector of self-expression (5th House) look at the Aries Rising horoscope which will interpet Venus in the 5th. This is labour intensive and can get confusing.
Ultimately you will have the most success if you simply view your chart using Whole Signs (you can visit astro.com to do this) and apply the general information to your Rising Sign. As a transiting planet enters a new sign (and new house or sector according to my horoscopes) the energy resonates in a general way with each Rising Sign (or Sun Sign). Cancer is Gemini Rising's personal resources sector because Cancer is right in front of Gemini (moving in order of the signs)- what Gemini keeps close/owns/feels secure with. Taurus is Gemini Rising's hidden sector because it's right behind Gemini (blind spot).
If you don't know your Rising Sign, just use your Sun sign and don't worry about your house positions.
Here's a primer on what houses my "sectors" apply to:
1st House=planet X in your sign
2nd House=personal resources
3rd House=communication (sometimes siblings)
4th House=home and family/home business
5th House=self-expression/new attraction/kids
6th House=routine, health, service
7th House=one-on-one relationships
8th House=shared resources/intimacy
9th House-opportunities, exploration
10th House=career
11th House=friends, groups, the public
12th House=secrets, hidden things
