What Transits Should I Look At?
Someone recently asked me “how to track key astrological transits in a manageable way.
For someone who doesn't want to delve too deep but still wants to stay informed, what would you recommend? Should I primarily focus on the moon's transits, or are there one or two other major transits that are crucial for everyday guidance, both mundane and personal?"
There’s a many ways you can do this. You can invest the money and buy Solar Fire (expensive and complicated but very thorough) or AstroGold (simpler, less expensive). Or, Astro.com or Astro-Chart.com is free and very accurate - you can open an account and input your info. and you can track basic transits.
As for the actual transits, focus on Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto's transits to your chart for long-term, major influences. Of these, Jupiter is the least important unless it's conjoining your Jupiter, one of your personal planets or passing over an angle/Node. For daily, the inner planets (Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars). Transits of the Moon are so brief that you may not notice them, with the exception of New and Full Moons of course.
Besides this, Mercury, Venus and Mars retrograde and stationary but if you want to narrow those down, only when the Rx and stationary points make aspects to your natal planets/angles.
For all of the above, hard aspects (conjunctions, oppositions, squares) are felt more strongly and have a bigger impact. Not that you should ignore softer aspects but if you want to keep it simple, focus on the hard aspects plus any planet crossing an angle.
It's good to combine daily transits with a longer, year ahead view to keep the dailies in perspective. And, it gives you an idea of what's coming up/what to watch out for.
To summarize:
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto (year ahead) with Jupiter having the least weight unless (exclusions noted above)
Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars (daily)
Monthly New and Full Moons
Rx and direct stations
Hard aspects and transits to your angles
