Transits to the Nodes

A Soul Tribe member asks about interpretations of transits to the North and South Nodes, specifically outer planet transits.

I'll focus on the hard aspects as they are the most noticeable.

When an outer planet conjoins your natal South Node, it will trigger issues from the past. People/situations may re-emerge, and sometimes this can be from a past life. The purpose is to enable the completion of leftover issues (facilitate an ending or confront you with what you've been putting off).

When an outer planet conjoins your natal North Node, it will trigger opportunities that push you forward in a beneficial direction (even if it doesn't feel beneficial at the time).

When an outer planet squares your Nodes, you are being presented with a choice - stick with the old, South Node habits or move towards your North Node (unfamiliar but ultimately beneficial). A scenario that you've encountered before may be triggered and you have a choice to approach it differently.

Specifics for the above will depend on house and sign.

The triggers for the above will be dependent on the outer planet:

  • Jupiter expands (positive and negative issues)

  • Saturn restricts, delays and presents more responsibilities

  • Uranus disrupts, surprises and liberates

  • Neptune slowly dissolves, releases and heals

  • Pluto emphasizes power and encourages the purge of old/toxic scenarios

Here's an example. Transiting Jupiter over your Sagittarius North Node can bring an exciting opportunity to expand into brand new. It will feel unfamiliar a bit scary - maybe there's a sense of "too much." You'll be asked to put your faith in the unknown. Jupiter in Sag over your South Node can expand a familiar scenario - maybe an addiction, habit of deceit or negative relationship pattern. More is not better. Sometimes Jupiter over the SN can bring positive things (easily-like a gift) but there will still be a familiar "been here before" vibe. Can you do more with what you're receiving?

Neptune in Pisces square your Nodes can challenge you with an illusion, deceit, addiction or opportunity to let go. But you'll have to choose how you handle this. If your SN is in Sagittarius, your habitual response may be overly hopeful. NN in Gemini urges you to look at the details this time. Neptune squaring your Nodes will bring confusion (what's true/false?) and if you lose track of what's best, moving towards your North Node (away from how you usually handle the situation) is often your best bet.

Saturn over the Capricorn North Node can present extra responsibilities that will ultimately be good for you. You may not want to do the work or be more disciplined, but this is part of your path forward. Saturn over your Capricorn South Node can cause responsibilities or fears from the past to emerge - is it time to let them go? Official endings are often associated with this transit. Sometimes Saturn/SN can deliver results from your previous actions/relationships- karmic confrontations where you must face a reality.

To summarize:

  • South Node is about endings, results and habits

  • North Node is your path forward

  • Squares to the Nodes challenge you with a choice between old versus new, and old will feel more comfortable (but is probably not beneficial for you)
