How Can I Use Transiting Lunar Phases (Part 1)?
In my daily posts you'll notice I discuss various aspects between the transiting Moon and Sun.
The monthly lunar cycle is divided into different phases which are then divided into aspects (between the Sun and Moon). Each phase and aspect has different qualities that you can work with and use to your advantage (you go with the lunar flow rather than working against it). For example, if you have a choice about when to plan an event you may want to avoid the day of the First Quarter Square because crises tend to pop up during this aspect. But, if you're looking for motivation and don't mind some gritty interfaces, the First Quarter Square may be just what you need.
The meanings of the aspects are the same no matter what signs the Moon and Sun are in but the way they manifest will change according to the signs.
Each phase has an overall goal and the aspects that make up that phase help you reach that goal.
Here's a cheat sheet : I'll cover Waxing phases (New to Full Moon) this week and Waning phases (Full to New Moon) later. Note that I have only included the major aspects for simplicity.
New Phase: Beginning
Good for: starting something
Conjunction (aspect): a seed is planted
Waxing Crescent Phase: Move Forward
Good for: developing what you've started, riding momentum forward
Waxing Sextile (aspect): opportunity but you have to make an effort and do something with it
First Quarter Phase: Tension Creates Change
Good for: motivation, challenge, pushing for change
First Quarter Square (aspect): crisis in action, change must occur through external action
Waxing Trine (aspect): natural path forward, taking the next step is easy, tension eases as things fall into place
Gibbous Phase: Analysis and Adjustment in Preparation For The Full Moon
Good for: fine tuning, detailed work/corrections
Waxing Inconjunct (aspect): something is wrong, an irritant, adjusting two incompatible energies
